Nala Addu Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 3, 2026
Overview
- Nala Addu is a municipal issue-management app for authorized Addu City Council users. This policy explains how the app handles information when you sign in, view or update issues, and submit reports.
- The app connects by default to https://mto-municipal.vercel.app. An administrator may configure another server, whose operator is responsible for its own data practices.
Information the app handles
- Account information may include your name, username, email address, user identifier, role, credentials during sign-in, and an authentication session token.
- Issue records may include a road or title, category, description, status, GPS coordinates, address information, photos, assignment details, notes, author information, and creation or update times.
- The server or its hosting providers may automatically process technical information such as IP address, request time, device or browser characteristics, and operational or error logs.
Location, camera, and photos
- With your permission, the app accesses precise or approximate location to attach coordinates and an address to a municipal report. You may enter location information manually when the app permits it.
- With your permission, the app uses the camera or photo library so you can document an issue. Selected images may be compressed and watermarked with report context, including road, address, coordinates, and time, before upload.
- Location and photo access occurs in connection with report features; the app does not use these permissions for advertising.
Local storage and background sync
- The app stores settings, offline drafts, local photo paths, issue records, and a cache of recently updated issues on your device using Hive. Authentication tokens and cached profile information are stored using secure device storage.
- Offline reports remain in a local queue and may upload when connectivity returns, through a manual sync or a periodic background task. Cached or queued information remains until it is synchronized, deleted, cleared with app data, or removed when the app is uninstalled, subject to device backup behavior.
How information is used and shared
- Information is used to authenticate users; create, assign, update, synchronize, and resolve municipal issues; display activity and summaries; maintain security; and diagnose failures.
- Issue and account information may be visible to authorized council staff and service administrators according to their roles. It may also be processed by hosting, storage, networking, and other service providers needed to operate the configured backend.
- Information may be disclosed when required by law, to protect rights or safety, to investigate misuse, or with the user's direction or consent. The app source does not include advertising or third-party analytics SDKs.
Retention, deletion, and security
- Server-side records are retained according to the policies and operational needs of the council or configured server operator. Records may be retained for municipal accountability, legal obligations, security, backup, or audit purposes even after an issue is resolved.
- Authorized users may edit or delete issues where their role and the service allow it. Requests to access, correct, or delete account or server data should be directed to Addu City Council or the operator of the configured server.
- The app uses HTTPS for the default service and secure device storage for session information, but no storage or transmission method is completely secure. Protect your device and credentials and report suspected unauthorized access promptly.
Children, changes, and contact
- Nala Addu is an operational council tool and is not directed to children. Do not submit unnecessary personal information about children or other people in issue descriptions or photos.
- This policy may change as the app or municipal service develops. The effective date will be updated when revisions are published.
- For privacy questions about the app, contact Mohamed Shamil at shaamil.is@gmail.com. For requests concerning municipal records or a council account, contact Addu City Council or the administrator who provided your access.
